Motoring Questions and AnswersMotoring offences - Solicitor?Q) Can anyone reccomend a good solicitor who deals with motoring offences in the Salford/Bolton area
A) any solicitor will do! look in the yellow pages! Are motoring organisations condeming letter bombs enough?Q) Nobody likes to get a speeding fine or congestion charge, but innocent people are being hurt. Somebody could be maimed or killed soon.
Motoring journalist Quentin Willson says "we could be looking at other forms of social unrest as a result of Britain's car camera culture", while Nigel Humphries from the Association of British Drivers said that "because of our failure to campaign hard enough, somebody's had to resort to this."
"HAD TO"? Who HAD TO send a bomb? We're not talking about the French Resistance here, guys.
Do you think these commentators are being responsible? Or are they insidiously attempting to lay some of the blame for random acts of violence at the door of those who are just trying to improve road safety?
Yes, I know it's "condemning". I can spell, but I can't type!
Hi lancs lad,
You do surprise me - how come, then, it's claimed that £26,000 were spent by the council on decorations in Nelson?
http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/pendle/colne/display.var.1135032.0.festive_budget_may_be_slashed.php
Are you saying the money was misspent - the classic government budgeting procedure meaning they ended up spending £500 per fairy light or something - or that the council's simply lying about the amount that went on them?
A) Hi sorry this answer aint to the actual question but I read your comments about the nelson decorations at xmas and belive me there were none. Nelson has a muslim majority and although local businesses put there own private decorations down nelson council didnt put any. I live in colne nad if I tell you that colne has 16 lamp posts with decorations on does that indicate how little nelson would of put up. The website may disagree but you cannot argue with a resident.
To answer your question though...........letter bombs are a coward way out. Someone has been hit by a fine and instead of going through the proper channels he has taken drastic action when in reality it is not needed. Yes some traffic laws are just stupid but we have to face them and accept them most of the time. There are ways and means to argue a case and win but bombs are not them. Its something a terrorist does and in my opinion thats what these people are.About himalayan motoring?Q) I would like to know abt himalyan motoring please help
hey guys anyone knows anything or not
i am lookin for some answers please

A) i've searched a bit..and this is what i got.. i hope it helps!!When Is a motoring conviction spent?Q) I have motoring endorsements on my licence dated 1987 and 1997. Do I need to advise my new employer?
A) You may want to read "disclosure of spent motoring convictions" at the site belowI have received a summons for a motoring offence?Q) I have received a summons for a motoring offence, the date shown on the summons is not the date of the (alleged) offence, does this give me a defence on a technicality?
A) If you did it. Be grown up and admit it.
If you didnt, contest it.HELP! Accused of motoring accident when car was off the road - HELP!?Q) I have just been contacted by a firm of debt collectors who say they are acting on behalf of the Motor Insurance Bureau.
They say I had an accident 5 years ago, gave my details & that I have since been chased to provide proof of insurance. Although they have given me the correct make, model & reg of the car I owned then, the date they say I had an accident the car was off the road, garaged with a snapped cam belt - couldn't afford the repairs. The address they say I gave was an old address so this is the 1st time I have been contacted and the 1st time I am aware of anyone chasing me.
I have had no accident in the past 5 years insured, let alone uninsured. Where do I stand? The car had been offroad some months, not drivable, not insured. The firm is threatening all sorts & says the onus is on me to prove (5 yrs on) that it wasn't me. Debt collector is trying to serve me a Statutory Demand (?) and has mentioned bankruptcy in their letter. Am really worried & welcome any advice.
I've just been informed that a Statutory Demand is a precursor to making me bankrupt.
The 1st letter I have had in relation to this was this am - the debt collectors had apparently written to an address I've not lived at for 6 yrs. Apparently the police were informed after the accident and wrote to an old address (had moved 6 months before the accident was supposed to have happened) to ask for my ins.docs. Does that have a bearing?
Can they make me bankrupt over something I've not done? Can't speak to the MIB as they sold the debt on.
I've spoken to 1 solictor who says they've not heard of a motor offence going this far and I am scared witless. Has anyone got any good advice/contacts?
Just to reiterate, the person who had an accident gave my name & old address, had a car the same make/colour of the car I had garaged. I have never driven whilst uninsured. I dont know the £'s involved until the notice is served next week.

A) Sounds like a scam to meShould uk drivers pay motoring tax??Q) Downing St Motor Tax petition
You might have seen reports of this on the news or in the papers, so people are taking notice

A) Ooh - a decent question that deserves posting every day. Keep the link on top kid!motoring competition?Q) Has anyone any idea on the law regarding competition prizes? A competition was entered to include free entry tickets to race tracks, and the winner of the competition has now been told that they cannot have some of the prize but not the tickets - what can they do?
A) Report them to trading standards in your local area.
what was there reason to restrict the prize. in the competition rules did it state anything about changes in the prize on a specific time or date of the venueMotoring help needed please (work vehicle)?Q) I want to know the best small/medium pick up for use on UK roads for a self-employed gardener. It has to fairly cheap, bare, simple and ready to drive over mud and rutted tracks as easily as tarmac. I'm not after frills, comfort or fads, just solid, no-nonsense reliability.
I have about £1000 to spend. My top options at the moment (but please advise me otherwise) that I have seen advertised in my local area are:
1. Early Land Rover 90 pick up
2. Land Rover Series 3 pick up
3. VW panel van pick-up variant (the 80s model with a VW MK2 Golf front end).
4. Transit van
The only requirement apart from those outline above is that the vehicle must be diesel.
Suggestions? Thanks!
Sorry meant £2k not £1000!
A) I don't think you are likely to get a real pick-up that could do much work for that kind of money, and If you can it will be vrey ropey. However if payload is not your biggest problem, then the Proton Jumbuck is a 1/2ton pickup which are only about £5000 new. Might be worth a look, but you cannot tow any sort of decent sized trailer, and they are only available with a 1.5l petrol engine.
Personally I would be looking at the Isuzu Rodeo, or the Nissan Pickup (The new navarra is too weak). But these are both in the 15-18K + VAT bracket.motoring offences: I have just recieved a N.I.P.?Q) !) failed to report accident,
2) failed to stop and give particulars after accident.
3) Careless driving without due care and attention.
I have documented proof and did report within 24 hrs the incident?
The accident was caused by a vehicle being drove on the wrong side of road causing me to swerve and clip a woodent fence, which resulted in minor damage, at that point I turned my vechicle around to persue the other vehicle. He sped off at that point I parked my vehcile on my drive way which is at the bottom of the same avenue. (few 100 yards) Minutes later the fence owner arrived just as I was about to walk back. However in meantime the police had been called but the onwner of the fence had my details before the police arrived does this mean I failed to stop?
As with the above is this as accused careless driving?
Thankyou
In response to Jim E, I do have a friend in the vehicle at the time. No I didnt speak to the police,When I reported the incident a couple of hours later I was told the officer will want to speak to me. I confirmed with station the next day thaat no one had been in touch, I was told the officer is on leave for a couple of days and will be in touch to hear my side of the story. No one has spoke to me whats soever.
A) Get yourself a brief. take no notice of the previous answer. That's part of the reason I'm in the slammer now
You're Motoring????Q) In that old eighties song Sister Christian, what the heck does it mean in the chorus when they say "You're motoring?"
A) Night Ranger's drummer supposedly wrote the song about his sister, who was graduating from high school and getting cozy with a guy that the brother didn't particularly like. That being the case, I'd guess that he's referring to his sister's chugging through life's big steps in a hurry.
The lyrics, in case you wanted 'em - :)
Sister Christian
Oh the time has come
And you know that you're the only one
To say O.K.
Where you going
What you looking for
You know those boys
Don't want to play no more with you
It's true
You're motoring
What's your price for flight
In finding mister right
You'll be alright tonight
Babe you know
You're growing up so fast
And mama's worrying
That you won't last
To say let's play
Sister Christian
There's so much in life Don't you give it up
Before your time is due
It's true
It's true yeah
Motoring
What's your price for flight
You've got him in your sight
And driving thru the night
Motoring
What's your price for flight
In finding mister right
You'll be alright tonight
Motoring
What's your price for flight
In finding mister right
You'll be alright tonight
(repeat)
Sister Christian
Oh the time has come
And you know that you're the only one
To say O.K.
But you're motoring
You're motoringAnyone seen the 702 Motoring owners new ride?Q) 702 Motoring is a custom car shop in Las Vegas.
A) No. What does this have to do with car audio?Suggestions for a tv show "segment title" on women in motoring/racing?Q) I'm coming up with a segment on our show, dedicated to women drivers and everyday motorists. It's my advocacy to women in the motoring industry, cuz it's inevitable that women are part of it, even though men dominate it. Suggestions for a title please? Our show is skewed towards motoring, races, speed, glam cars and lifestyle events. From Manila by the way. Thanks!
A) how about GirlZone? (too mushy?)I love this song by Night Ranger. What does "motoring" mean in this song?Q) "Sister Christian

A) It's another word for cruising (i.e. driving around town, checking people out). This song was really popular when I was in high school and that's what we did...
Night Ranger's hold solidified with their second album, "Midnight Madness," which featured the ballads "When You Close Your Eyes" and "Sister Christian," written and sung by Kelly Keagy for his own sister. It became a cautionary anthem for teenage girls across a conservative America, warning them not to "give it up before their time is due." The album's success pushed the band from opening act to headliner status by the summer of 1984.How can I get involved with motoring magazines?Q) Such as Car & Driver, Road & Track, and/or Motor Trend.
I'm 17 and it's something I could see myself doing in the future. How would I come into this career path? Any suggestions with college majors, extra-curriculars?
Thank you.
A) What exactly do you want to do for the magazine? Would you like to write articles, do research, take photographs. If you get into print journalism as a major in college, you can cover all those areas and then you can decide what you like best.Motoring what's your price for flight?A) i LOVE this song

Motoring................Motoring and accident packs!?Q) If a company offered you an accident pack which included things like pens, paper, camera and other paperwork would you buy one for your car just in case. If you would consider buying one, how much would you pay?
A) Its probably not a bad idea, people buy those safety boxes with flares and flashlights.
